Hi there! I'm Iwata Sam, also known as LIU.

With over 20 years of experience as a TV commercial director and film writer-director, I've honed my craft in creating visually stunning and compelling narratives, which has afforded me the privilege of working with high-profile global actors and actresses such as Cindy Crawford, Nicole Kidman, Karlie Kloss, Alessandra Ambrosio, Manny Pacquiao, Maggie Cheung, Zhou Xun, Zhang Zi Yi, and Hu Ge. My work has been recognized with multiple awards, including Academy Awards qualifying festivals such as Worldfest Houston.

I started my journey as the Head of TV at M&C Saatchi Shanghai and later founded 38pro Film Ltd., where I continue to push the boundaries of storytelling in commercials and films. Raised internationally and fluent in four languages, I bring a global perspective to my projects, which resonate with audiences worldwide.

Whether I'm working on a TV commercial campaign or a feature film, my goal is to showcase my work to attract new clients and investors. My passion for storytelling and creative vision drives me to create films that leave a lasting impression on viewers.

When I'm not behind the camera, you'll find me behind my desk, brainstorming new ideas and writing screenplays. Even though I'm currently based in Shanghai, China, you can find me around the world in cities like London, Paris, Tokyo, Taipei, and Bangkok.
