Looking back, I’m grateful that my past has shaped who I am today, but I often wish I had spent more time studying. Maybe then, I’d be able to express myself more fluently and quickly, especially in writing. I was one of those students who couldn’t stand reading—I’d see the alphabets flying around like aimless butterflies, lost in the mist. Because of this, I hid from books, making me a slower reader and writer.
Discovering Life's Unexpected Passions Through Reflection
However, life is full of surprises, and here’s a funny one: I’ve recently fallen head over heels for writing, especially freewriting and screenwriting!
Here’s an interesting twist to my story— my newfound love for writing dovetails with my deep admiration for the famous Samurai, Oda Nobunaga. His life resonate deeply with me. His poem "人間五十年", reflecting on the fleeting nature of life, strikes a chord with my own reflections on time and growth.
Nobunaga’s life, marked by transformation and embracing unexpected turns, mirrors my own journey from avoiding books to passionately writing.
To honor him, I’ve even written a song based on his "人間五十年" It’s fascinating how life can come full circle and align our interests in unexpected ways.
人間五十年 in Japanese:
" Ningen Gojuunen,
Geten no Uchi wo Kurabureba,
Yumemaboroshi no Gotokunari.
HitoTabi Sei wo Ete,
Metsusenu mono no
Arubekika? "
In English, it means:
" A man's life of 50 years under the sky
is nothing compared to
the age of this world.
Life is but a fleeting dream, an illusion --
Is there anything that lasts forever? "
